Rev. Dr. Greg Seltz, former Speaker of the Lutheran Hour and now Executive Director of the Lutheran Center for Religious Liberty in Washington, D.C., will be the featured leader at the 17th Annual T³ Men’s Retreat at Mark Twain State Park on September 28–30, 2019. Dr. Seltz, well known for his dynamic ability to communicate, will focus the group on the theme “Champions for Religious Liberty.” Attendees will explore the “Two Kingdoms” doctrine of our church and discover ways to freely live for others in the American context. In his current role, Dr. Seltz works directly with our nation’s legislators to advocate for religious liberty in our nation. His office in Washington, D.C. was established by the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod two years ago.
One of the changes to this year’s retreat is to invite fathers to bring along their sons who have reached the age of 16. In the past attendees had to be 18 years of age, but it is hoped that father-son teams will take advantage of this opportunity to enjoy the weekend together.
Activity options planned for the weekend include the traditional fishing tournament at Mark Twain Lake and other lakes in the area, a scramble golf tournament at Norwood Golf Course near Hannibal, a walking tour of Hannibal, horseshoes, a geo-cashing hike, biking, and personal relaxation time. Another new addition this year will include a small group Bible study on Saturday morning. The retreat participants will enjoy evening campfires on Friday and Saturday evenings.
The cost of the retreat is only $50 per man and that includes all meals, lodging on the camp grounds (group cabins, tents and small campers) and a commemorative shirt. The cost of the golf tournament remains $35. Some choose to stay in local motels which are available at very reasonable rates.
Brochures with details and registration forms are available in the church office and our Welcome Center.
